Boutros Ghali (El Cairo, 1922) holds a PhD in International Law from the University of Paris. He was a Professor at Cairo University and the Sorbonne. He served as Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in Egypt before being appointed Secretary of the United Nations until 1996.

Federico Mayor Zaragoza ( Barcelona, 1934) has a Doctor in Pharmacy awarded by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He has an Honorary Doctorate from the UNED, was Rector of the University of Granada and Professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Amongst his political responsibilities he has been in charge of the Ministry of Education and Science and Deputy in the European Parliament. He was Deputy Director General of UNESCO from 1987-1999. He currently chairs the Foundation for the Culture of Peace, an institution that he created.

He has held various politicial posts as Councillor, Deputy of the Spanish Congress and President of the Parliament of Catalonia (1999-2003). He is an active member of several socio-cultural institutions and collaborates in various publications.

Josep M.Ainaud de Lasarte (Barcelona, 1925) is a Law graduate from the University of Barcelona. He was Deputy of the Parliament of Catalonia and Barcelona City Alderman. He has received several awards including the Medal of Honor of the City of Barcelona.  His work reflects a deep interest in Catalan culture and history. He has worked for several media and cultural institutions for over 30 years.

Francesc Torralba holds a Doctorate in Philosophy and Theology at the University of Barcelona.  He is Director of the Universitas Albertiana Peace Institutes and collaborates with the Letter of Peace addressed to the UN Foundation. He directs the Postgraduate course in the Culture of Peace offered by the Foundation and the University of Barcelona. In addition he teaches at the Universidad Ramon Llull, is Vice President of the Sociedad Hispánica de Amigos de Søren Kierkegaard (Hispanic Society of Friends of Søren Kierkegaard) and Director of the Cátedra Ethos. He works with various entities.

Salvador Gineris Professor of Sociology at the University of Barcelona. He is President of the Institute for Catalan Studies. Between1965 and 1989 he developed his academic and research career in places such as Cambridge University, Lancaster and Rome. In addition he is one of the founding members of the Instituto de Estudios Sociales Avanzados del CSIC (Institute for Advanced Social Studies). Throughout his career he has published in a wide range of specialist international journals.

Carlos Martínez-Shawhas been Professor of Modern History since 1983 at the Universities of Santander, Barcelona and the UNED. He served as Vice-Rector at the University of Barcelona  (1982-1986).  He has been visiting professor at several international universities such as the Ecole des Hautes Etudes in Paris (France), Università degli Studi di Cagliari (Italy) and the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata (Argentina).

Vicent Martínez Chair of Philosophy for Peace at the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló. He has worked as a researcher at the Universities of Frankfurt (Germany) and Berkeley (USA). He founded the Máster Universitario en Estudios Internacionales de Paz, Conflictos y Desarrollo (University Masters in International Studies for Peace, Conflict and Development) and  has been responsible for promoting Peace and Development Studies programs in different universities throughout the world.

She lectures at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Barcelona and is a member of Ethics Ethos at Ramon Llull University. She lectures on professional ethics in various graduate programs. Her key research area is the application of Ethics to organizational and business environments.

Arcadi Oliveres (Barcelona, 1945) has a PhD in Economics and lectures at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona (Autonomous University of Barcelona). His research specializations focus on North-South relations, international trade, debt and defense economics. He is involved in various social movements and Christian organizations, and has chaired the Association for Justice and Peace since 2001. He publishes frequently in a wide range of journals.

Beatriz Molina holds a PhD in Arabic Studies. She lectures in the Department of Semitic Studies at the University of Granada and is the director of the Institute of Peace and Conflict. Her research interests focus on cultures, religions and peace in the Mediterranean and especially in the Arab and Islamic world.

Maria Oiangurenhas a degree in Philosophy and Education Sciences from Universidad del País Vasco- EHU (University of the Basque Country). Since 1991 she has worked in the Gernika Gogoratuz Research Centre and became its Director in 2002.  She is a specialist in Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies. In 2010 she received the René Bassin Award.

Itziar Ruiz-Giménez is a Doctor of International Relations and works at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). She lectures on international relations and African studies. She is coordinator of the African Studies Group (GERI). Her research focuses on Conflict Resolution on themes including humanitarian interventions, violence in Africa and the role of women.

He is a researcher at the Foro Internacional del Mundo Árabe y Musulmán (International Forum of the Arab and Muslim World), a member of the Identidad y Diálogo Intercultural (Identity and Intercultural Dialogue Group) of the URL  and of the Teología y Religiones (Theology and Religion Seminar) of the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia.

Leticia Soberón has a degree in Psychology from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca and has a Doctorate in Social Sciences (Communications) from the Pontificia Universidad Gregoriana de Roma.  She is part of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications at the Vatican and General Coordinator of RIALL, the computer network of the church in Latin America. In addition, she is a specialist in the management of networking.
